Telangana Police Intensify Investigation into POCSO Case Involving Ministers Son

Hyderabad, May 12: The Cyberabad police in Telangana have accelerated their investigation into a POCSO case involving Bandhi Bhagirath, the son of Union Minister Bandhi Sanjay Kumar.

DCP Rithiraj, appointed to oversee the investigation, visited the Bashirabad police station to assess the current status of the case.

During his visit, DCP Rithiraj met with the Assistant Commissioner of Police and the station officer to gather information and review the case. He later informed the media that discussions had taken place regarding further actions, and a strategic plan has been developed to advance the investigation.

The DCP confirmed that the victim’s statement has already been recorded, but additional information is still required, necessitating further discussions with her.

In recent days, police have completed the process of gathering necessary documents and evidence following the registration of the POCSO case.

He also indicated that the accused is currently at large, and if located, will be arrested. The police are examining call detail records to ascertain the accused’s location and gather further information.

Previously, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed DGP C.V. Anand to initiate an immediate investigation into the matter. The Chief Minister has also ordered the formation of a special team for a comprehensive inquiry, which includes allegations of sexual harassment against a minor.

It has been reported that despite a complaint being filed at the Bashirabad police station on May 8, there was a delay in action, prompting the Chief Minister to question the DGP.

The Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also established a special bench to hear the case.

The victim’s mother has alleged that the accused has been harassing her daughter for the past six months and that inappropriate behavior occurred at a farmhouse in Mokhinabad.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act, along with sections 74 and 75 of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the accused, Bandhi Bhagirath (25), has also filed a complaint against the girl and her parents at the Karimnagar police station. He alleged that there was an attempt to ensnare him in a honey trap and that he was extorted for 5 crore rupees.

In response, police have filed various charges against the girl and her parents, including extortion and criminal conspiracy.

The state minister has denied the allegations against his son, labeling them as a political conspiracy.
