Thiruvananthapuram, May 15: Following the announcement of VD Satheesan as Kerala’s next Chief Minister, the veteran Congress leader firmly stated that the state will not tolerate any hate campaigns.
Speaking to reporters, Satheesan accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of consistently promoting hate-driven agendas. He emphasized that attempts to instigate hate in Kerala will not be allowed, asserting, “This is a secular Kerala.”
Satheesan highlighted that the recent election results signify a declaration by the people of Kerala to uphold secularism, pledging to maintain this identity. He noted, “Our task is to preserve the secular image of the state. This is the ideological battle between the BJP and Congress.”
In response to questions regarding the recent increase in petrol prices by ₹3 per liter nationwide, Satheesan stated that the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government will assess its impact on Kerala after taking office.
He remarked, “We will evaluate the effects of rising petrol prices on society and the economy. We will also consider the public’s responsibility before implementing corrective measures within our limits.”
However, Satheesan acknowledged that the state government faces certain limitations in decision-making due to central directives.
Regarding the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak, the designated Chief Minister mentioned that they will propose measures. “We are not conducting the NEET exam; it is held at the national level. We will investigate and make recommendations to the relevant authorities.”
