Gujarat Health Minister Ensures No Compromise on Students Future

Gandhinagar, May 15: Gujarat’s Health Minister, Praful Pansheriya, stated on Friday that there will be no compromise regarding the future of students. This declaration follows actions taken by the state government in response to inspection findings related to the Dhanvantari Ayurveda College and Hospital in the Mahisagar district.

The situation arose after a letter was issued on August 6 last year by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), highlighting several issues concerning the college and hospital. These issues included academic standards, infrastructure, and institutional operations.

Subsequently, on November 18, the central government’s AYUSH department formed a three-member inspection committee to conduct a thorough evaluation of the institution.

According to officials, the inspection assessed hospital services, academic arrangements, staff availability, and student facilities. The committee identified a decline in patient numbers, insufficient staff availability, and shortcomings in both academic and practical training arrangements.

Moreover, the committee noted that essential infrastructure, such as libraries, laboratories, and other student support facilities, required significant improvements. The inspection report indicated that continuing education at the institution under the current circumstances might not be feasible.

In light of these findings, a high-level review meeting was convened at the Health Minister’s office in Gandhinagar with relevant senior officials. The meeting focused on safeguarding the academic interests of enrolled students and ensuring compliance with regulatory issues in coordination with NCISM and AYUSH officials.

Officials reported that the concerns of students’ parents were also taken into account during discussions. The primary focus was to ensure that students’ academic progress remains uninterrupted.

Options discussed included the possibility of transferring affected students to other accredited and approved institutions to ensure the continuity of their education.

Speaking on the matter, Pansheriya emphasized that there would be no compromise on the future of students. The state government is fully committed to ensuring that every student receives quality education and adequate facilities.

He further stated that the government is adopting a transparent and sensitive approach while operating within regulatory guidelines.
