Lucknow, May 27: The All India Shia Personal Law Board has welcomed the formation of a high-level committee by the Ministry of Home Affairs to address demographic changes. Board Secretary Maulana Yasub Abbas praised this initiative, stating that it is the government’s responsibility to monitor population patterns in the country.
In an exclusive conversation, Maulana Yasub Abbas remarked, “The high-level committee formed by the Home Minister is a commendable step. It is essential to keep track of demographic changes. The government should maintain a close watch on where the population is declining, where it is increasing, and what professions people are engaged in.”
He made a humble appeal to Home Minister Amit Shah, saying, “I come from the minority Shia community. Currently, the Shia community is not receiving its fair share.” Maulana Abbas further noted that families grow gradually, so any sudden surge or decline in population should be investigated. He emphasized that this committee will work for the country’s interest and help maintain balance among all communities.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid), Maulana Yasub Abbas urged all Muslims to celebrate the festival peacefully and with restraint. He stated, “This is the festival of Eid-ul-Azha. I appeal to all Muslims that our Hindu brothers are also our neighbors and brothers in this India. Islam teaches that no one’s feelings should be hurt. Perform the rituals of sacrifice in a manner that does not lead to bloodshed in public, leaving animal remains exposed or littering public roads, causing inconvenience to other communities.”
Regarding the Supreme Court‘s decision on petitions challenging the Special Investigation Report (SIR), Maulana Yasub Abbas stated that no one should question the verdict of the country’s highest court. He said, “When this matter became contentious, it went to the Supreme Court. The court has upheld its validity. We fully respect the court’s decision regarding today’s hearing related to the SIR. Whatever the court’s ruling may be, we will accept it.”
