Isha Singh Discusses Dark Roles and the Importance of Emotional Detachment in Acting

Mumbai, May 27: Renowned television actress Isha Singh is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film “Obsess.” The trailer, filled with dark suspense, has already been unveiled. In this psychological thriller, Singh emphasizes the need for actors to know when to immerse themselves in their roles and when to step back.

In an interview, she stated, “As an actor, you must clearly understand when to be in character (on) and when to step out after the shot (off). It’s true that some roles can pull you deep into their essence, but fortunately, the atmosphere on our film set was very positive and supportive. The people around me were consistently looking out for my well-being, which prevented the character from weighing heavily on me emotionally.”

Discussing the rise of toxic attachments and obsessive behaviors in today’s society, Singh noted that such individuals existed even before social media. She explained, “The only difference now is that everything appears more immediate because everyone has a phone, and information spreads rapidly. Social media has both positive and negative aspects. What I love most about ‘Obsess’ is that its story has many emotional layers. When audiences watch this film, they will realize how deeply these themes are portrayed.”

Recalling a remark from the film’s director, Peter, Singh shared, “Peter once said that every person has both an angel and a devil within them. Which aspect emerges depends entirely on the individual.”

She stressed the importance of freeing oneself from the emotional weight of a character, explaining that during work, one often remains mentally in that fictional world. Some days can be heavy, while others are light, but stepping out of that imaginary realm after work is crucial for an artist’s mental health.
