New Delhi, May 27: Karnataka’s Public Works Minister, Satish Jarkiholi, has stated that all speculations regarding the leadership change will be clarified in a breakfast meeting called by the Chief Minister. This meeting is scheduled for Thursday morning. Jarkiholi is known to be a close ally of the Chief Minister. He emphasized that everyone must effectively fulfill the tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Congress high command.
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about a potential leadership change in the state.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday, Jarkiholi said, “We do not know what Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will say, nor do we have any information on the directives from the high command. However, we are looking forward to tomorrow.”
He added, “I have not yet spoken to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah since the meeting with the high command in Delhi. We were staying at Karnataka Bhavan, where Siddaramaiah left directly for Bengaluru. We will meet him either today or tomorrow morning.”
When asked about the breakfast meeting and the political events in the state, Jarkiholi stated that nothing can be said until official information is released. He believes it is inappropriate to comment before any official announcement.
Additionally, Jarkiholi responded to speculations that he might soon be given responsibility within the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. He mentioned that discussions are ongoing, but no one has approached him regarding this matter. He will share his thoughts when contacted about it.
He also made it clear that if he is assigned this role, he will be ready to take on the responsibilities.
When asked if he would accept the Deputy Chief Minister position if offered, he replied that party leaders should willingly accept every decision made by the high command. Everyone must be prepared to fulfill the responsibilities given by the party.
Meanwhile, School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa stated that he has no information about the impending changes in the Chief Minister’s position. He mentioned, “Decisions regarding changes in the Chief Minister’s position will be made by the party high command. I have canceled my engagements to attend the breakfast meeting called by CM Siddaramaiah. I will now head to Bengaluru.”
Bangarappa confirmed his participation in the breakfast meeting and noted that due to the ongoing political events, Siddaramaiah’s program in Shivamogga might be canceled.
Amidst the discussions about leadership change, Deputy CM and Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar will also attend the breakfast meeting with CM Siddaramaiah on Thursday. This meeting is expected to intensify the ongoing discussions about leadership change in the state. Shivakumar is returning to Delhi, where he will meet with senior Congress leaders.
In the midst of all these discussions, Congress General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala is arriving in Bengaluru on Wednesday. According to official sources, his visit is linked to the Greater Bengaluru Authority.
