New Delhi, February 12: A significant Quality Assurance (QA) Industry Conclave is set to take place in New Delhi. This event will bring together the Navy, the Ministry of Defense, and industry leaders to discuss future strategies related to shipbuilding and associated equipment.
In today’s defense manufacturing sector, quality is not just a technical requirement; it has become the foundation of national security and trust. The reliability of every piece of equipment—be it warships, combat systems, or spare parts—is directly linked to the country’s safety. Therefore, ensuring that maritime vessels, tools, and systems meet high-quality standards is essential. The Quality Assurance Industry Conclave is scheduled for February 13, focusing on this critical issue.
The theme of the event, taking place at the Manekshaw Auditorium, is “Traceability, Speed, and Trust—Smart Quality Assurance through Technology.” High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defense, Indian Navy, QA agencies, shipyards, defense PSUs, and private companies will participate. Their goal is to enhance the quality assurance processes in defense manufacturing, making them more robust, faster, and transparent.
Experts believe that in today’s world, merely producing goods is not enough. It is equally important to track the complete information of every part, including where it was made, how it was produced, and at what stage it was inspected. Digital technology can streamline and accelerate this entire process. The conclave will discuss how technology can expedite approval and certification processes while strengthening trust between the industry and the Navy.
According to the Ministry of Defense, technical sessions will specifically address issues such as digital quality systems in shipbuilding, compliance with policies, coordination with the industry, and quality in spare parts supply. The aim is to ensure that quality is never compromised at any level, from ship construction to maintenance. Several important initiatives will also be launched during this time, including the release of the “Indian Naval and Marine Industry—A Capability Catalog.”
This catalog will provide comprehensive information about the industry’s capabilities in one place. Additionally, joint guidelines will be issued for better management of data related to combat systems and sensors. Companies with a strong quality record will be granted “Green Channel Status” and “Self-Certification” privileges to expedite their approval processes. This conclave is seen as a crucial step toward modernizing, digitizing, and enhancing the reliability of defense manufacturing. It will not only strengthen the country’s security framework but also elevate the reputation of the Indian defense industry on a global scale.
