Maharashtra Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar Pays Tribute to Yashwantrao Chavan

Mumbai, February 2: Maharashtra Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar is carrying forward the political legacy of the late Yashwantrao Chavan, a legacy that held great significance in the life of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. On Monday, she visited Satara and Phaltan, where she paid homage at the memorial of the state’s first Chief Minister in Karad during a pre-assembly meeting.

Throughout his political career, Yashwantrao Chavan’s ideals and memorial were very important to Ajit Pawar. He often visited the site during key moments in his life and frequently stated in his speeches that his politics and social work were rooted in Chavan’s principles. Since his passing, Sunetra Pawar has taken up the responsibility of continuing this tradition.

The Deputy Chief Minister offered floral tributes at Yashwantrao Chavan’s memorial and later visited the home of the late Vidip Jadhav in Lonand, Phaltan tehsil, to express condolences to his family. Vidip Jadhav was a security guard who was with Ajit Pawar during the fatal plane crash in Baramati.

This visit followed a recent trip by Sharad Pawar faction MLA Rohit Pawar, who announced he would take responsibility for the education of Jadhav’s children.

A senior party leader noted that despite being part of the BJP-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra and at the Centre, Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar’s visit to the memorial reaffirms the party’s commitment to the secular ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Chhatrapati Shahu, Mahatma Phule, and B.R. Ambedkar.

After taking oath on Saturday, Sunetra Pawar said, “Respected Ajit Dada dedicated his life to farmers, workers, women, youth, and marginalized sections. Today, with unwavering loyalty to the principles of Shiv-Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar, I accept the responsibility of Deputy Chief Minister with a full heart, carrying forward his legacy.”

She added, “Although Dada’s untimely demise has left a deep sorrow in my heart, my true support lies in his commitment to duty, strength to struggle, and the bond he shared with people, which he taught me. I will work tirelessly and honestly to realise his dream of a just, equal, and developed Maharashtra. The love and support of Maharashtra’s people during these difficult times are my real strength. With the power of your trust, I will keep moving forward with new hope, illuminating Dada’s ideals.”
