Bihar ATS Arrests Man for Alleged Links with Pakistani Operatives

Patna, May 23: In a significant operation, the Bihar Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a man from Muzaffarpur for allegedly maintaining contact with operatives based in Pakistan. This revelation comes as part of a sensitive national security investigation.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Mustafa, the son of Mohammad Sagir, residing in Ratanpur village of Muzaffarpur district. He is accused of working for anti-India elements and was reportedly in direct contact with Pakistani arms smuggler Shahzad Bhatti and his associates.

According to ATS officials, the arrest was made based on intelligence received by the squad’s Special Intelligence Unit regarding anti-national activities.

Initial investigations indicate that the accused was communicating with foreign handlers through social media platforms and encrypted messaging apps. During a forensic examination of Mustafa’s mobile phone, ATS technical teams allegedly discovered objectionable and anti-national content.

Investigators analyzed deleted data, chat backups, and active messaging apps, revealing ongoing communication with Shahzad Bhatti and another associate named Rana Hunan.

Police claim that the accused’s phone contained videos, images, and digital content related to several sensitive and strategically important locations in India. Preliminary findings also suggest that Mustafa allegedly recorded videos in restricted areas and shared them with Pakistani handlers, including precise geographical information.

ATS has stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway, utilizing scientific and technical analysis of the accused’s travel history, digital devices, social media activities, call detail records (CDR), financial transactions, and interstate and international contacts.

Investigators are also looking into the expansion of Mustafa’s network, potential accomplices, and suspected foreign funding connections.

Based on initial findings, a case has been registered against Mohammad Mustafa in Muzaffarpur under provisions related to espionage, anti-national activities, and national security. Further legal proceedings are currently ongoing.
