Mumbai, May 23: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced stringent measures against cattle slaughter and trafficking. He stated that repeat offenders will face charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). This decision has been welcomed by Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde, who emphasized the duty to protect cows.
Hegde expressed, “I support Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Cows are our mother, and it is our responsibility to protect them. Our government, including Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and Sunetra Ajit Pawar, has decided to apply MCOCA against all involved in cattle trafficking. Vigilance checks will be implemented at border posts.”
In Delhi, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal echoed similar sentiments, stating, “In Indian culture, cows are revered as mothers. Therefore, we call them ‘Gomata’ and worship them. I fully agree with Devendra Fadnavis that anyone found involved in cattle slaughter should face the harshest penalties and be charged under the strictest laws. This should serve as a precedent that anyone engaged in such activities must be prepared to face the law.”
Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde also responded sharply to statements made by AJP leader Humayun Kabir, who made controversial remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Hegde criticized Kabir’s comments about sacrifices involving goats, horses, cows, and even camels.
Hegde stated, “I want to tell him that while you have the right to practice your religion, you do not have the right to offend others. It would be best if you refrained from discussing cows. Maharashtra has strict laws that will apply under MCOCA against those who commit atrocities against cows.”
