Indian Stock Market Closed on Good Friday, Trading Resumes Monday

Mumbai, April 3: The Indian stock market is closed today, April 3, 2026, in observance of Good Friday. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will not conduct any trading activities. This marks the first holiday of April and the second holiday of the week, following the market closure on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti.

According to the stock exchange holiday calendar, trading will be completely halted across all segments today. This includes equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, NDS-RST, tri-party repo, commodity derivatives, and electronic gold receipts (EGR).

Investors can take comfort in knowing that the market will reopen on Monday, April 6, as the weekend on April 4 and 5 will provide a break from trading activities.

Globally, major markets will also observe a holiday due to Good Friday. Stock exchanges in the U.S. and several Asian and European countries will remain closed, impacting global trading.

In the commodity market, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also be entirely shut today. There will be no trading sessions in the morning or evening, which means no transactions for gold, silver, crude oil, copper, and other metals.

In total, there are two holidays in the stock market for April. Following Good Friday, the next holiday will be on April 14 for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti.

For the year 2026, there are 20 scheduled stock market holidays, with four falling on weekends. This means the market will be closed for a total of 16 regular trading days, with five holidays already observed.

Overall, today is a complete holiday for investors, and market activities will resume on the next trading day, Monday.
