Jaipur, May 15: Rajasthan’s Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan has set an ambitious target for the state’s urban gas distribution entities. On Thursday, he instructed them to expedite the distribution of pipeline natural gas (PNG) connections, aiming to connect an average of 1,000 homes daily.
The goal is to bring 43,000 homes under the PNG network by the end of June, within the next 45 days. During a meeting of the state-level CGD committee held in the Secretariat’s ‘Chintan Room’, the Chief Secretary emphasized that homes in areas with existing pipeline infrastructure should be prioritized for immediate PNG connections.
Representatives from all 13 CGD entities participated in the meeting. Srinivasan noted that both the central and state governments are making concerted efforts to promote the transition from LPG to PNG and the development of designated ‘LPG-free zones.’
He instructed CGD organizations to raise public awareness about the benefits of PNG, which include 24-hour supply, elimination of cylinder booking hassles, convenience at home, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Additionally, he called for intensive awareness campaigns through social media platforms and the organization of connection camps to accelerate the process of laying pipelines in homes.
As of now, the state has established 490 CNG stations and provided PNG connections to 1,380 commercial and industrial units, as well as 153,000 homes. The Chief Secretary stressed the need to expedite the implementation of domestic pipeline gas connections in line with government priorities.
