Jaipur, May 15: Rajasthan’s Health and Medical Minister, Rajendra Singh Khinvsar, announced that a thorough investigation is underway regarding the maternal health incident in Kota. The inquiry is being conducted on three critical fronts: the examination of medications administered to patients, potential infections in operating theaters and medical equipment, and a comprehensive review of treatment protocols and patient monitoring systems.
Khinvsar stated that laboratory reports concerning possible contamination in medications, equipment, and related materials are expected within two to three weeks.
During his visit to Kota on Thursday, he emphasized that the state government is taking the deaths of pregnant women and deteriorating health conditions very seriously. He ordered a wide-ranging investigation from every possible angle to uncover the true causes of the incident.
He also announced that a team from the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Delhi will visit Kota on Saturday to conduct a detailed and impartial investigation into the matter.
After inspecting health facilities at Kota’s New Medical College Hospital and JK Lon Hospital, the minister addressed the media, describing the incident as deeply tragic and unfortunate. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring a swift, sensitive, and transparent investigation.
Khinvsar noted that the actual causes of the incident will only be determined after the final report is received. Strict action will be taken based on the report’s findings. He reiterated that negligence at any level in health services will not be tolerated.
He further elaborated on the three key areas of investigation: the review of medications given to patients, inspection of operating theaters and medical equipment for potential infections, and the assessment of treatment protocols and patient monitoring systems.
In light of the seriousness of the case, he revealed that the doctors and nursing staff involved in the treatment and monitoring have been provisionally suspended. However, he clarified that no innocent individuals will be penalized, and strict action will only be taken against those found guilty after the investigation.
