Iran Accuses UAE of Military Aggression at BRICS Meeting

New Delhi, May 14: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister stated on Thursday that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has played a significant role in military aggression against Iran. This remark was made during the second session of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Minister for Legal and International Affairs, asserted, “The UAE has been instrumental in supporting and facilitating military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, any party involved in creating and escalating tensions has no right to level political accusations against Iran.”

According to the Iranian Embassy in India, the Deputy Minister’s comments were in response to “baseless” allegations made by the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who accused Iran of attacking the UAE and labeled Iran as aggressive.

Gharibabadi emphasized, “When a country provides facilities and assistance to aggressors, it is not merely support; it constitutes a form of aggression itself. Thus, the UAE is not just a collaborator but an aggressive party.”

He referenced the 1974 United Nations General Assembly resolution, stating that there is a complete record of every combat aircraft that has flown from the UAE, including the time, date, and flight path.

The embassy noted on the social media platform X that Iran has submitted 120 official diplomatic notices to the United Nations Security Council, containing all relevant evidence.

He added that Iran can no longer tolerate the targeting of its citizens and infrastructure, especially with the involvement and cooperation of a neighboring country, namely the UAE.

Gharibabadi concluded by stating that Iran had no choice but to target all American military bases or facilities in the UAE where the U.S. had a role or involvement. He affirmed that Iran’s actions are fully in accordance with the United Nations Charter and fall under the right to self-defense.
