Manoj Tiwari Welcomes Contempt Proceedings Against Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, May 15: Manoj Tiwari, the Member of Parliament from North East Delhi, expressed his support on Thursday for the Delhi High Court’s decision to initiate criminal contempt proceedings against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and several other prominent figures. This action comes in response to inappropriate comments and social media posts regarding the Delhi excise case.

Tiwari stated that this move sends a clear message: no individual, regardless of their power or claims of being an “aam aadmi” (common man), is above the law or the dignity of the judiciary.

Previously, Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma initiated contempt proceedings, asserting that the posts, videos, and public statements made on social media crossed the line between fair criticism and criminal contempt after the individuals involved refused to distance themselves from the case.

Tiwari pointed out that for a long time, people in Delhi, Punjab, and across the nation have witnessed how AAP leaders have targeted respected judges and the judiciary itself. He accused them of running a systematic and malicious campaign filled with lies, edited videos, defamatory letters, and orchestrated social media attacks.

He emphasized that this is not mere criticism but a deliberate attempt to intimidate and discredit the judiciary. Tiwari remarked that those who have become accustomed to spreading falsehoods and protecting corruption in the notorious Delhi excise policy scandal will now have to face the consequences of their actions.

He added, “The contempt proceedings are not just a legal formality; they mark the beginning of accountability for those who think they can tarnish judges’ reputations without facing repercussions under the guise of political power.”

Tiwari reiterated that the BJP has always stood for the sanctity of the Constitution and the independence of the judiciary. He expressed full confidence in the Delhi High Court and the judicial system, urging that the law be allowed to take its course. Those who have attempted to obstruct justice through propaganda and pressure tactics will now have to answer in court.

He appealed to the people of Delhi, stating that the true face of the AAP has been revealed. Their politics of lies, corruption, and attacks on institutions have been exposed. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP is committed to transparent and corruption-free governance, where every citizen is equal in the eyes of the law, and no habitual offender can evade justice.
