New Delhi, May 14: The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming tour to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy on Thursday.
FIEO stated that this tour will further strengthen India’s strategic economic relations with global partners and provide new momentum for trade, investment, and technological cooperation during these challenging times.
Reacting to the announcement, FIEO President S.C. Ralhan noted that the Prime Minister’s visit comes at a time when India is enhancing its economic ties with Europe and the Gulf region, particularly through trade partnerships, robust supply chains, and investment-driven growth.
Ralhan remarked, “The high-level discussions between the Prime Minister and leaders of the UAE and major European countries demonstrate that India is becoming a reliable economic partner and a crucial part of global development. This tour will create significant opportunities for Indian exporters in sectors such as engineering, clean energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, textiles, logistics, and digital trade.”
He emphasized that India’s relationship with the UAE has evolved into a strong ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,’ with trade and investment rapidly increasing.
He further stated that the UAE remains India’s most important trade and investment partner and serves as a vital gateway for Indian exports to the Middle East and Africa.
Ralhan added, “This tour will further strengthen India-UAE economic relations, particularly in energy cooperation, infrastructure, investment, and trade in services. The large Indian diaspora in the UAE also plays a significant role in enhancing trade and people-to-people connections between the two countries.”
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, FIEO’s President highlighted that Europe is one of the largest and most significant regions for India’s exports and investments.
He also noted that this tour has gained additional importance following the recent completion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).
Ralhan stated, “The discussions between the Prime Minister and European leaders will deepen collaboration in future sectors such as green hydrogen, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, clean technology, defense manufacturing, blue economy, robust supply chains, and sustainability. There are vast opportunities for Indian exporters and industries in these areas.”
He emphasized the significance of the upcoming India-Nordic Summit in Norway, stating that the Nordic region offers substantial collaboration opportunities in renewable energy, climate technology, marine sectors, digital innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
FIEO also welcomed Prime Minister Modi’s participation in major business events such as the European Round Table for Industry and the India-Norway Business and Research Summit. The organization stated that this will boost investor confidence and strengthen industrial partnerships.
Ralhan concluded, “India’s total bilateral trade with all these countries exceeds $70 billion, and investments from these regions are consistently increasing. This tour will inject new energy into trade, investment, and economic cooperation.”
