Eknath Shinde Claims Impossible Made Possible by Maha Yuti Government

Pune, May 1: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde launched a direct attack on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Friday, asserting that they had missed a crucial link in Maharashtra’s progress. He emphasized that the current Maha Yuti government has not only restored that link but also provided a high-speed corridor for the state’s future.

Shinde made these remarks during the inauguration of the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link project on the expressway. This initiative aims to eliminate long-standing traffic congestion in the Ghats and ensure faster, safer travel.

Criticizing the previous government’s ‘work from home’ culture, Shinde alleged that the MVA had sidelined or even considered canceling this project.

He stated, “Some claimed this project was impossible and attempted to have it scrapped. However, making the ‘impossible’ possible is the mantra of the Maha Yuti government.” He expressed satisfaction in being present for the ground-breaking ceremony alongside Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

While addressing the gathering, Shinde highlighted the expressway’s historical significance, noting that it was a dream of Balasaheb Thackeray, realized by Nitin Gadkari.

Despite the project’s completion, traffic jams at Khandala Ghat remain a persistent issue. Shinde remarked that the congestion causes ongoing difficulties for travelers. He asserted that while traffic jams are a painful experience, the ‘Missing Link’ project offers a permanent and effective solution.

With a budget of approximately ₹7,000 crores, the project is expected to yield economic benefits far exceeding the investment. It will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune by 30 to 40 minutes. The project features a 182-meter-high bridge in Tiger Valley, now recognized as India’s tallest bridge and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. This initiative is also projected to enhance fuel efficiency, with daily savings in fuel costs expected to exceed ₹1 crore.
