Grand Tribal Cultural Gathering in New Delhi Celebrates Birsa Mundas 150th Birth Anniversary

New Delhi, May 24: A grand ‘Tribal Cultural Gathering‘ was held at the Red Fort grounds, showcasing the rich culture, traditions, and unity of tribal communities from across the nation. This event celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda and saw participation from several central ministers, MPs, and leaders from the Delhi government.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta remarked that people from tribal societies across the country gathered in New Delhi, exemplifying the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India). She extended her best wishes to all tribal brothers and sisters, highlighting the vibrant cultural display witnessed at the Red Fort.

Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa of the Delhi government described the event as both magnificent and historic. In an interview with a news agency, he addressed concerns within the tribal community regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), clarifying that Home Minister Amit Shah assured that tribal societies would not be included under the UCC.

BJP MP Kamaljeet Sahrawat noted that over 500 tribal communities celebrated Birsa Munda’s anniversary in Delhi. He expressed that the sight of people dancing and singing in traditional attire, accompanied by drums, created an atmosphere of unity reminiscent of a gathering of the entire nation.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari mentioned that representatives from more than 550 tribal communities attended the event. Initially, it was estimated that around 100,000 people would participate, but the turnout was nearly double that number.

Tiwari emphasized the event’s goal was to convey a message that tribal societies would no longer fall prey to conversion. He stated that the tribal community has awakened, with a clear message of unity and shared heritage.

He further noted that the confusion surrounding the UCC was dispelled following Amit Shah’s speech. The tribal community has its own traditions and laws, which is why they are exempt from the UCC. Tiwari mentioned that he had been welcoming attendees from across the country for the past two days, and everyone appeared very pleased. Many visitors also took the opportunity to explore India Gate and the Red Fort.

BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste remarked on the unprecedented gathering of tribals in Delhi. Organizations like the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and the Tribal Protection Forum played a significant role in the event. Representatives from approximately 740 tribal communities participated, making it a true convergence of tribal societies. He described it as a grand cultural gathering where people came together in their traditional attire and customs, creating a truly remarkable sight.

Union Minister of State Durga Das Uike stated that the gathering sent a powerful message on Birsa Munda’s 150th anniversary. He asserted that those who have converted and are converting others should be removed from the tribal list. He noted that the voices of tribal communities from across the country echoed this sentiment.
