
Ouagadougou, May 24: Burkina Faso, a Central African nation, has intensified its measures to prevent the Ebola virus disease. Health officials have emphasized that no cases have been reported in the country so far.
The Ministry of Health in Burkina Faso issued a statement highlighting the enhanced epidemiological surveillance at key entry points, given the potential threat of Ebola. All health facilities are on high alert to ensure the swift identification of any suspected cases. Additionally, the capacity of national laboratories has been increased, and mobile labs are being deployed for immediate testing of cases.
The government has also expedited preparations for isolation centers and treatment facilities, activating the Emergency Health Response Operations Center. However, no Ebola cases have been recorded in the country to date.
Amid the rising threat of Ebola in Africa, India has sent the first batch of essential medical supplies and safety kits to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar posted on X, stating that India stands firmly with Africa during this public health emergency. The government has also advised Indian citizens to adhere to local health guidelines and exercise caution while residing in or traveling to Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
The World Health Organization has declared this situation a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
