Major Banks Step In to Assist CBSE Re-evaluation Payment Process

New Delhi, May 24: Four major banks in India are set to assist with the payment process for the CBSE board exam re-evaluation. This initiative comes as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) prepares to implement significant changes to its payment system. Following the announcement of board exam results, students have faced numerous technical issues and payment failures during the re-evaluation process. Many students have reported persistent technical difficulties and payment failures when attempting to submit their re-evaluation fees.

In light of these challenges, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held discussions with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday to explore immediate solutions. Concerns have been raised by students, teachers, and parents regarding the evaluation and re-evaluation process of the Class 12 board exam answer sheets. This issue has sparked widespread dissatisfaction and discussion among students, parents, educators, and stakeholders in the education sector across the country.

This year, the evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets was conducted using an ‘on-screen marking’ system, aimed at enhancing transparency, uniformity, and eliminating calculation errors. However, a significant number of students have expressed dissatisfaction with their results. Many have also applied for re-evaluation of their answer sheets, but have encountered difficulties in submitting the required fees.

Students have reported that online payments for re-evaluation are frequently failing. Following the crucial discussions between the finance and education ministers, it has been decided that four major public sector banks will assist in strengthening the CBSE payment gateway system. The banks involved are the State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank. These banks will integrate their systems with CBSE’s post-examination service portal to make digital payments more secure and stable.

The new system will focus on reducing the challenges students face when submitting fees. Additionally, an automatic refund system will be developed to address issues such as payment failures, duplicate transactions, and excess deductions, minimizing the need for students and parents to file repeated complaints.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also directed CBSE to completely overhaul its payment gateway system. The government believes that millions of students utilize re-checking, re-evaluation, and other online services after board exams, making a robust and seamless digital payment system essential.

The government hopes that this coordinated effort between the finance ministry, public sector banks, and CBSE will provide students with fast, secure, and uninterrupted digital services. There is optimism that students will soon experience significant relief from payment-related technical obstacles.
