Telangana Government to Launch Indiramma Life Insurance Scheme on June 2

Hyderabad, May 24: The Telangana government is set to launch the ‘Indiramma Life Insurance’ scheme on June 2, coinciding with the state formation day. Officials have described this initiative as a significant gift for the public.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka termed the scheme historic, stating it would serve as a special present for the people of Telangana on the state’s formation day.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Deputy CM shared that the government’s goal is to provide life insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh to 1.15 crore families across the state. He emphasized that the scheme will be inclusive, with no discrimination based on caste, religion, or economic status, aiming to benefit every needy family.

Finance and Energy Minister Vikramarka highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering women and fostering entrepreneurship. He announced that solar power plants would be allocated to women’s self-help groups, and the interest-free loan amount would be increased to a total of ₹1 lakh crore.

The government is continuously working to extend welfare benefits to poor and needy families. Initiatives such as the distribution of high-quality rice, the ‘Griha Jyoti’ scheme providing 200 units of free electricity, and the ‘Indiramma’ housing construction program are designed to assist vulnerable families.

Additionally, during a cabinet meeting on Saturday, the second phase of the ‘Indiramma’ housing scheme was approved. The government plans to construct new homes for 2.5 lakh poor families, with 2,000 houses sanctioned for each assembly constituency.

The cabinet also decided to complete unfinished ‘Indiramma’ homes that were initiated during the Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh but were halted later. For homes with only foundations laid, ₹3 lakh will be provided for completion, while those with walls but no roofs will receive ₹2 lakh.

Revenue and Housing Minister P. Srinivas Reddy reported that funding has been approved to complete 500 unfinished homes in each assembly constituency. He also mentioned that a housewarming ceremony for approximately 1 lakh ‘Indiramma’ homes completed in the first phase will be held by June 2.
