New Delhi: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari has strongly criticised the central government’s ‘Viksit Bharat- Jee Ram Ji’ scheme, warning that once people become aware of the scheme’s flaws, they will work to remove the BJP from power.
In an interaction with the news agency, Tiwari said, “People are not yet fully aware that with the implementation of the 60-40 ratio, this scheme will effectively come to an end. The guarantee has been removed, but the public does not understand this properly. The government has not only removed Gandhi’s name from the changes made in MNREGA but also shifted decision-making from local levels—where needs were assessed and plans executed accordingly—to a top-down approach, deciding where schemes will be implemented. Once the public realises this, they will work to drive the BJP out.”
The Congress MP also commented on the stone-pelting incident at Turkman Gate in Delhi. He described it as an administrative failure and said, “If the demolition was to be carried out under the High Court’s order, the authorities should have communicated with the local people first and assured them that the mosque itself would not be touched, only the buildings within the mosque complex would be demolished. Informing the public would have avoided misunderstandings.”
He further questioned why the demolition was conducted at night instead of during the day and alleged that the administration deliberately created a tense atmosphere leading to confusion. “I consider this a historic mistake by the Delhi administration,” he added.
Regarding India’s GDP growth, Pramod Tiwari expressed serious concerns, calling the economy a “dead economy.” He said, “GDP growth usually happens at the start or end of the year and is often exaggerated. If the economy were truly strong, why was the MNREGA ratio reduced from 90-10 to 60-40? Why are inflation and unemployment rising, and small and medium industries shutting down? If the picture is so good, why is the reality so bad? The truth is that India’s economy is dead.”
About the upcoming budget session, Tiwari remarked, “The budget will include the President’s speech. Promises made to the public in the budget are rarely fulfilled. Whether the budget is presented on a Sunday or Monday, the promises to the people must be kept.”
