Three Accused Arrested in West Bengal Bombing Case in Mumbai, Mastermind Captured

Mumbai, May 21: The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit-6 has made significant progress by arresting three fugitives linked to a bombing and shooting incident in the Shivpur area of Howrah district, West Bengal. Among those apprehended is the main conspirator of the case.

According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, the three suspects had been hiding in a room at the Ekta SRA building in Deonar after executing the crime in West Bengal. The Mumbai police received intelligence from the Howrah police indicating that the accused were hiding in Mumbai.

Following this tip-off, the Crime Branch set up a trap and successfully arrested the three individuals. They have been identified as Shameem Ahmed Abdul Rasheed (40), Jameel Akhtar Ali (43), and Aftab Anwar Khursheed Anwar (44).

Officials from the Crime Branch reported that during interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in the Shivpur bombing and shooting case. Investigations revealed that all three have prior criminal records.

The police confirmed that a team from the Shivpur police station in Howrah has arrived in Mumbai, and the process of taking the suspects into custody is ongoing. Once the paperwork is completed, the trio will be handed over to the West Bengal police on transit remand.

The Mumbai Crime Branch stated that further investigations into the case registered in West Bengal will be conducted by the Shivpur police.

Reports indicate that previously, another unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested two individuals connected to a case in Murshidabad district, West Bengal. These suspects were allegedly involved in a bombing incident outside an ashram and had fled to Mumbai to evade capture.
