Madhya Pradesh to Launch Accessible Transport Service Scheme Soon: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav

Bhopal, May 21: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh has announced the swift initiation of the Accessible Transport Service Scheme during a review meeting of the transport department. This scheme aims to provide institutional public transport facilities for citizens across the state.

During the meeting, it was revealed that a Road Safety Secretariat is being established in the state. Transport and School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh was also present.

Chief Minister Yadav emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure safe, accessible, and convenient transport services for the public. He stated that improved public transport is not only a means of easy travel but also a lifeline for the social and economic development of the state. The Chief Minister called for modernizing transport check posts and toll booths to facilitate the inspection of goods vehicles entering from other states. Efforts will be made to integrate these check posts swiftly. He also urged for extensive promotion of the Raahveer Scheme and a campaign to address the shortage of human resources in the transport department.

Yadav suggested mapping the most accident-prone areas in the state to ensure timely medical services for those in need. He proposed consolidating various ambulance services offered by different departments onto a single platform, enabling ambulances to reach accident sites within 30 minutes or less.

Transport Secretary Manish Singh reported that Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the implementation of the PM-Raahat and Raahveer schemes nationwide. District nodal officers have been onboarded in all 55 districts under the PM-Raahat scheme, with 1,692 out of 2,298 cases approved. The Raahveer scheme has received 109 applications, with 49 cases approved, showing significant progress in Balaghat district.

The meeting also highlighted the recent appreciation from the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety regarding the state government’s initiatives for promoting and successfully implementing these schemes. Following the committee’s recommendations, a separate ‘M.P. State Road Safety Secretariat’ is being established to ensure road safety.

Singh further reported that the transport department earned a revenue of ₹4,911.78 crores against a target of ₹4,400 crores for the fiscal year 2025-26, achieving 111.6% of the target. For the current fiscal year 2026-27, the revenue target is set at approximately ₹5,721 crores. The department is offering 51 types of faceless services, eliminating intermediaries and ensuring transparency in service delivery. Chief Minister Yadav congratulated the departmental ministers, officials, and field staff for these achievements.

He reviewed the progress of the Chief Minister’s Accessible Transport Service Scheme, which aims to expand the rural network and enhance women’s safety. Yadav urged for the prompt launch of the scheme in the field.

Transport Secretary Manish Singh explained that the scheme will be implemented in two phases. Seven regions have been established: Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal (including Narmadapuram), Jabalpur, Sagar, Gwalior (including Chambal), and Rewa (including Shahdol). Notifications for extended routes from regional headquarters to suburban areas have already been issued for the first phase. Notifications for additional extended routes will be released soon.

In the first phase, approximately 5,206 buses will operate on a total of 1,164 routes over the next two years. An efficient and intelligent transport management system will be established for the smooth monitoring of these buses. In the first phase, 608 buses will run on 121 routes in the Indore region, 371 buses on 120 routes in Ujjain, 398 buses on 104 routes in Bhopal, 309 buses on 83 routes in Jabalpur, 344 buses on 92 routes in Sagar, 298 buses on 65 routes in Gwalior, and 184 buses on 35 routes in Rewa. All buses under this scheme will have a uniform color to maintain consistency.
