IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans Set a Stiff Target of 230 Runs Against Chennai Super Kings

Ahmedabad, May 21: In the 66th match of IPL 2026, held at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) posted a formidable total of 229 runs after losing the toss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

GT’s captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided a brilliant start, forming a partnership of 125 runs for the first wicket. This marks the tenth occasion where the duo has combined for a partnership of 100 runs or more.

Shubman Gill scored 64 runs off 37 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 7 fours before being dismissed.

Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler then added 82 runs for the second wicket. Sudharsan played a remarkable innings, scoring 84 runs off 53 balls, including 4 sixes and 7 fours, before getting out. With this performance, Sudharsan has accumulated 638 runs in 14 matches, reclaiming the Orange Cap.

Jos Buttler also contributed significantly, remaining unbeaten on 57 runs from 27 balls, with 4 sixes and 5 fours. Rahul Tewatia was run out without scoring, while Washington Sundar managed 7 runs off 3 balls before his dismissal.

GT finished their innings at 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Anshul Kamboj had a costly outing, conceding 56 runs in 4 overs while taking just 1 wicket. Spencer Johnson took 1 wicket for 47 runs in his 4 overs. Gurjapneet bowled well, giving away only 31 runs in 4 overs but did not claim a wicket.

This match is the final league game of the season for both teams. GT has already qualified for the playoffs, while CSK must win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
