New Delhi, May 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honored with the prestigious Agri-Colla Medal by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. This recognition has been met with widespread joy across the nation, as expressed by Padma Shri Bharat Bhushan Tyagi.

In a conversation with a news agency, Tyagi stated, “This honor is a matter of pride for the country. We will move forward with renewed resolve, as this recognition is closely tied to our aspirations.”

He further remarked, “Prime Minister Modi deserves gratitude for the global recognition of coarse grains. Since 2014, significant progress has been made in increasing farmers’ incomes and enhancing the quality of production.”

Tyagi emphasized that food security and international recognition were critical issues that have been addressed. He noted a fundamental transformation in agriculture, which is a source of great pride and benefits the people of the country.

Additionally, the farming couple known as ‘Kisan Chacha’ and ‘Kisan Chachi’ also expressed their happiness. Rajkumari Devi, a resident of Anandpur village in the Muzaffarpur district, is widely recognized as ‘Kisan Chachi’ and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019. Her husband received the ‘Kisan Shri’ award in 2007. Together, they have established a successful business producing handmade pickles, exemplifying rural entrepreneurship.

The couple stated that Prime Minister Modi’s recognition by the FAO is significant for India’s global standing. They highlighted that under his leadership, India has made substantial progress in food security and agriculture, with the world now acknowledging India’s agricultural policies and models. This honor serves as an inspiration for Indian farmers and the agricultural sector.
