Hisar, May 21: Krishna Kumar, a farmer from Rawalwas Khurd village in Hisar district, Haryana, has been practicing organic farming for several years. In 2025, he had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an experience he describes as a blessing in his life.
In an interview with a news agency, Krishna Kumar shared that Prime Minister Modi approached him in a very simple and warm manner. Their conversation lasted about 30 minutes, during which the Prime Minister inquired in detail about farming, crop production, farmers’ issues, and the benefits of government schemes.
“Meeting the Prime Minister was a fortunate experience for me. He is very approachable and friendly. I would like to meet him again in the future,” Kumar expressed.
He explained that he was motivated to adopt organic farming after reading in newspapers about people being forced to consume food treated with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Today, he cultivates crops such as wheat, chickpeas, potatoes, carrots, radishes, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, and zucchini.
According to Kumar, his organic wheat of the 306 variety can sell for up to 6,000 rupees per quintal. He does not need to visit the market to sell his produce. From chickpea farming alone, he earns over one lakh rupees per acre.
Kumar praised the initiatives launched for farmers under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He noted that schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi have greatly benefited farmers.
He further mentioned that the government has provided new directions for farmers by integrating digital technology and drones into agriculture. Prime Minister Modi has undertaken several significant initiatives for farmers, playing a vital role in elevating India’s status on the global stage.
He added that the Prime Minister spoke with 15 farmers and inquired about their issues. He emphasized the need to increase pulse production to reduce dependency on imports from other countries. “We are working on his advice,” he concluded.
