Bengaluru, May 6: An incident of assault on police personnel during a patrol has been reported in Bengaluru. The Amrutahalli police have filed an FIR against four unidentified suspects in connection with the incident. It occurred around 3 AM in the Akashvani Layout area when two officers on Beats 3 and 6 were conducting their routine patrol.
According to the complaint, the officers noticed a parked Pajero vehicle by the roadside, where four individuals were drinking alcohol. Observing this public misconduct, the police requested them to leave the area and return home. In response, one of the suspects allegedly used abusive language towards the officers, leading to a heated argument.
As the dispute escalated, all four suspects attacked the police personnel. The complaint states that the assailants restrained the officers from behind and physically assaulted them. They struck with their hands and feet, even tearing one officer’s uniform. The sudden attack left both officers unable to defend themselves, resulting in serious injuries.
During the incident, the suspects also snatched the keys to the police vehicle and fled the scene after pushing the officers to the ground. They quickly drove away in their car. The injured officers were later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is currently reported to be stable.
The police have indicated that the suspects have not yet been identified, but the officers believe they could recognize them if they see them again. Following the incident, security in the area has been heightened, and a special team has been formed to locate the suspects.
A case has been registered under Sections 121(1), 132, 304, and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code 2023. The police are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to gather clues about the suspects and expedite their arrest.
Police officials have stated that a team is being assembled to identify the suspects, and they expect to apprehend them soon.
