China Responds to Taiwan Leaders Statement with Strong Condemnation

Beijing, May 20: The spokesperson for China’s Taiwan Affairs Office, Chen Pinghua, expressed strong disapproval on Wednesday regarding statements made by Taiwan’s leader.

Chen Pinghua criticized remarks made by Lai Ching-te, stating that they were filled with falsehoods and hostility. Lai, who continues to advocate for Taiwan’s independence, has been accused of exaggerating threats from the mainland while promoting a misguided narrative of “sovereignty and freedom.”

This rhetoric has heightened tensions across the Taiwan Strait. Lai has deliberately attempted to push for freedom through force and has relied on foreign powers to bolster his stance. This behavior has once again demonstrated that he is a “destroyer of peace between both shores” and a creator of crises in the Taiwan Strait.

The spokesperson emphasized that Taiwan is an integral part of China and has never been an independent country, neither in the past nor in the future. Protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity is a firm resolve shared by all Chinese people. We will not allow any individual or force to undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty under any pretext.
