Major Drug Bust in Nashik: 30 Kilograms of Marijuana Seized, Five Arrested

Nashik, May 20: In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Crime Branch of Nashik police seized 30 kilograms of marijuana and arrested five suspects. The total value of the confiscated drugs and vehicle amounts to ₹12,01,760.

The operation was initiated based on information received via WhatsApp, as directed by the Police Commissioner. The tip-off indicated that an individual was transporting marijuana in a Honda City car along the Mumbai-Agra National Highway.

Following this lead, a team led by Anti-Narcotics officer Sushila Kolhe set up a trap on the Agra-Mumbai Highway at Adgaon Shivar. When the suspicious vehicle was signaled to stop, the driver attempted to flee. The police managed to halt the vehicle and conducted a search, uncovering three bundles of marijuana packed with khaki tape in the trunk, totaling 30 kilograms.

Arban Shakeel Khan Maniyar, 26, a resident of Shirpur, Dhule, was taken into custody at the scene. The seized marijuana is valued at ₹6,01,760, while the vehicle is estimated to be worth around ₹6 lakh.

During the investigation, two teams from the Crime Branch arrested Tausif Rahmat Khan, 52, and Aman Shaukat Sheikh, 24, from the Govandi and Chembur areas of Mumbai. Additionally, Vijay Wala Pawara, 35, from Shirpur, Dhule, was also apprehended.

The accused have been charged under Sections 8(b), 20(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. They were presented in court, where they were remanded to police custody until Monday. The Anti-Narcotics Squad is continuing the investigation into the case.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Assistant Police Commissioner Sandeep Mitke, along with the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Crime Branch teams.
