Itanagar, March 15: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, K.T. Parnaik, urged educational institutions to promote entrepreneurship and develop a robust startup ecosystem through innovation hubs, incubation centers, and startup labs. This initiative aims to transform students from job seekers into job creators.
The Governor made these remarks during the 23rd conference on higher and technical education held in Itanagar. He emphasized the importance of fostering innovation, research, and creativity, encouraging both students and teachers to devise solutions for regional challenges.
He highlighted the need to promote research focusing on sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, disaster management, and the development of border areas.
Research centered on Himalayan ecology, renewable energy, and indigenous knowledge systems is particularly crucial for the state, he noted.
Parnaik stated that technology is the greatest enabler of education and urged universities to incorporate modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, coding, and data science into their curricula.
He pointed out that AI-based digital platforms, virtual labs, and smart classrooms can provide quality education to students in remote areas. However, he reminded students to use AI as a learning aid, not as a substitute for critical thinking.
The Governor also mentioned the immense potential in sectors like eco-tourism, agri-technology, handicrafts, and digital services in Arunachal Pradesh, aligning with the national vision of a self-reliant and developed India.
He stressed the need for strong collaboration with national institutions, international universities, and the industry to enhance research, faculty development, and global experience. Additionally, he called for the establishment of centers of excellence in Himalayan studies, biodiversity, and sustainable development.
During the event, the Governor honored pioneers who have contributed to higher education in Arunachal Pradesh.
State Education Minister P.D. Sona also urged all stakeholders to commit to implementing reformative measures in the education sector and emphasized the importance of digital transformation.
