Emergency in India Unlikely, Says BJP Spokesperson Prem Shukla

New Delhi, June 5: BJP National Spokesperson Prem Shukla has strongly responded to Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement suggesting that an emergency could be imposed in the country. Shukla emphasized that the history of emergency in India, which occurred during Indira Gandhi’s tenure, is well-known. He asserted that regardless of what Rahul Gandhi claims, the imposition of an emergency in India is no longer a possibility.

He further stated that the BJP firmly believes in democratic and constitutional processes. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation is progressing towards its goal of becoming a developed India by 2047.

Highlighting Modi’s long tenure, Shukla mentioned that the Prime Minister is on the verge of setting a historic record, surpassing the term of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. A significant milestone will be reached on June 10, when Modi will join the ranks of leaders who have served the longest as elected Prime Ministers.

Shukla noted that India has witnessed substantial economic transformation over the past 12 years. The nation has progressed from being the 11th largest economy to the fourth largest. He stated, “80 crore people have benefited from free rations, 45 to 50 crore individuals have gained banking access under the Jan Dhan scheme, millions have received homes through the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, and 11 crore toilets and LPG connections have been provided, along with the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative.” According to him, these schemes have led to significant social and economic changes across the country.

Regarding West Bengal‘s political landscape, Shukla remarked on the turmoil within the Trinamool Congress, noting that many legislators are leaving the party. He explained that such changes are natural when leadership within a party is weak. He also accused the Trinamool Congress of being a party built on fear, hunger, and corruption, with leaders gradually departing, thereby weakening the organization.

Shukla also commented on the upcoming meeting of the INDIA alliance, stating that unity among opposition parties is dwindling. He pointed out that the DMK has also declined to participate in the forthcoming meeting, indicating growing differences within the coalition. He sarcastically remarked that the INDIA alliance has weakened, with member parties distancing themselves from one another.
