UP Sambhal Schools Closed Till January 14 Due to Severe Cold

In view of the severe cold, dense fog, and cold wave in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, District Magistrate Dr. Rajendra Paisiya has ordered the closure of all educational institutions from nursery to class 8 until 14 January 2026.

This directive applies to all types of schools, including government schools, aided schools, CBSE, ICSE, Madarsa boards, and private institutions. However, ongoing examinations will continue as scheduled and will not be affected by this order.

The official order issued from the District Magistrate’s office refers to a prior announcement by the Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, Prayagraj, which declared winter holidays from 31 December 2025 to 14 January 2026. Despite this, some aided, CBSE, ICSE, and Madarsa schools continued with regular classes in the district, information about which was received from parents and local residents.

Dr. Rajendra Paisiya stated, “Currently, the minimum temperature in the district ranges between 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, and dense fog persists in the mornings. Such conditions pose a health risk to young children, increasing the likelihood of cold, cough, flu, and respiratory problems. Prioritising the safety and health of children, this decision has been taken.”

The order clearly states that no teaching activities, including online classes or other academic programmes, will be conducted for nursery to class 8 during this period. Private school managements have been sternly warned against violating the order, with strict action including fines and recognition-related measures against defaulters.

The District Magistrate has directed the District Basic Education Officer, DIOS, BSA, and other concerned officials to regularly monitor all schools and ensure full compliance with the order. The local administration has appealed to parents to avoid sending children outside unnecessarily and to keep them warmly clothed.
