
New Delhi, May 26: A special workshop for Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) was held on Tuesday at the Gulmohar Hall of the India Habitat Centre, organized by the Nation First Policy Research and Change Foundation (NFPCRC).
Around 80 representatives from the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and various state assemblies participated in the event. The workshop covered significant topics related to health, education, digital communication, good governance, and the vision for a developed India by 2047.
The aim of the workshop was to provide a platform for representatives to engage with policy experts. This would facilitate discussions on improving governance, effective implementation, institutional coordination, and results-oriented methodologies at the regional level.
Tarun Chugh, President of the NFPCRC, welcomed attendees and emphasized that transformative initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, the New Education Policy 2020, and digital communication are laying a strong foundation for a developed India. He stressed the need for people-centric governance, effective execution, and a robust technology-based communication system to achieve the 2047 goals.
Lok Sabha MP Dr. C.N. Manjunath addressed the topic “Ayushman Bharat: The New Foundation of India’s Health System.” He highlighted that initiatives like PM-JAY and Health and Wellness Centers have significantly strengthened the country’s healthcare system. He noted that ensuring quality health services reach every village is a crucial step towards a developed India.
The session also discussed topics such as digital health systems, claims processes, availability of health services in rural areas, and modernization of health infrastructure.
Saurabh Chopra, Senior Director of the Central Square Foundation, described the New Education Policy 2020 as the cornerstone of India’s educational revolution. He mentioned that mother tongue-based education, skill development, digital learning, and modern educational models are preparing the youth for the future.
He added that quality and technology-driven education will play a vital role in making India globally competitive.
Lok Sabha MP Dr. Sambit Patra presented on strategic digital communication, stating that social media and digital platforms have become the most effective means of communication between representatives and the public.
He elaborated on media engagement, social media management, rapid information dissemination, and effective communication strategies during crises. He emphasized that transparent and active communication strengthens public trust.
Dr. Patra also highlighted the importance of regional languages and local media, noting that they enable representatives to connect more deeply with the public.
During the event, a video message from Ashish Chandorkar, Counselor at India’s Permanent Mission in Geneva and author of “How India Braved the COVID-19 Pandemic,” was showcased. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India successfully faced the COVID-19 pandemic through strong leadership, technology-based management, and public participation. He mentioned the achievements of the CoWIN platform and India’s role in the world’s largest vaccination campaigns.
At the conclusion of the program, Abhinav Prakash, a board member of the NFPCRC, expressed gratitude to all speakers and representatives. He stated that the NFPCRC will continue to organize such programs focused on research-based dialogue, policy discussions, and capacity building for representatives in the future.
The workshop emphasized strengthening governance, enhancing digital systems, and ensuring effective outreach of programs. Participants appreciated the impartial and research-based platforms that provide representatives with opportunities for better decision-making and experience sharing.
