
Chandigarh, May 26: Representatives of Punjab farmers and various agricultural organizations met with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Chandigarh. They detailed the current state of agriculture and the challenges faced by farmers. The discussion primarily focused on farming-related issues and the difficulties surrounding electricity supply.
The farmer representatives expressed that the situation for farmers in Punjab is deteriorating, and they are encountering difficulties on multiple fronts. They highlighted significant obstacles in obtaining the necessary electricity supply for agricultural activities.
They noted that the lack of timely and adequate electricity is disrupting farming operations, exacerbating the challenges faced by farmers.
During the meeting, representatives from farmer organizations stated that Punjab farmers are not benefiting from the farmer-friendly policies of the central and Haryana governments as expected. They demanded that farmers receive the same support and facilities as those in other states.
The representatives also expressed a desire for Punjab farmers to collaborate with the central government to secure similar benefits as those available in Haryana and other states.
On this occasion, all farmer representatives extended an invitation to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to visit Punjab, allowing him to understand the ground-level issues faced by farmers and assess the situation firsthand.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini listened attentively to the concerns of the farmer representatives and assured them of his full support and cooperation. He stated that addressing farmers’ issues is a priority for the government, and positive efforts will continue in this direction.
The meeting is being viewed as a positive step, with both sides engaging in dialogue about agricultural issues. Farmer organizations are hopeful that concrete measures will be taken following this meeting to resolve their problems and improve the situation for farmers.
