Bareilly, May 27: Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, emphasized the significance of Bakrid during a recent conversation. He stated that while Bakrid is a major festival for Muslims, it is essential to ensure that no one’s sentiments are hurt. He urged the community to sacrifice only those animals that are deemed permissible in Islam.
Maulana Razvi highlighted that Bakrid is a longstanding Islamic tradition that has been observed for centuries and will continue in the future. He noted that Islam permits the sacrifice of certain animals, such as goats and other livestock, which are religiously accepted.
He acknowledged that many people in India regard cows as sacred and have deep faith associated with them. Therefore, he stressed that Islam does not allow actions that may offend the beliefs or emotions of others. Respecting the sentiments of all religions is crucial, and maintaining peace within society is everyone’s responsibility.
Furthermore, he mentioned that cow’s milk is considered beneficial and healing in Islam, advocating its use for health purposes. He urged individuals to avoid misinterpretations of religious matters and to study Islam for accurate information, as misinformation can lead to confusion.
Maulana Razvi also pointed out that both central and state governments in India formulate regulations considering all festivals. He emphasized the importance of adhering to these laws to prevent any inconvenience during religious activities.
In a special appeal to Muslims, he requested that the sacrifices during Bakrid not be conducted in open spaces. Instead, he advised that sacrifices should take place indoors, at designated locations, or traditional sites, covered appropriately to avoid hurting the sentiments of other communities.
