
Chennai, May 26: The Tamil Nadu government has appointed 17 temporary lawyers to represent the state in civil matters. These lawyers will advocate for the Tamil Nadu government in the Madras High Court and its Madurai bench.
According to official sources, these appointments will remain effective until regular legal officers are appointed under the “Madras High Court and its Madurai Bench Legal Officers (Appointment) Rules, 2017.”
The government order states that these appointments were made based on the recommendation of the Advocate General of Tamil Nadu. The order specifies that the appointments are in accordance with Rule 5(11) of the 2017 regulations. The appointed lawyers will operate under the “State Government Pleader” office of the Madras High Court and the “Government Pleader” office of the Madurai bench.
The list released by the government includes temporary lawyers associated with the “State Government Pleader” office of the Madras High Court: Dr. R. Gauri, G. Dhana Madhuri, Mohammad Fayyaz Ali, M. Shivvardhanan, M. Guruprasad, Amritpookodi Dinakaran, K. Satish, K. Surendra, and Dominic S. David. They are tasked with representing the state government in various civil cases.
Meanwhile, the temporary lawyers linked to the “Government Pleader” office of the Madurai bench include R. Chakravarthy, B. Saravanan, M.P. Senthil, R. Parthiban, I. Pinayagash, S. Shivasubramaniam, S. Shiva Thilakar, and K. Porokodi. These lawyers will represent the government in pending cases at the Madurai bench.
The government order emphasizes that these appointments aim to ensure effective advocacy in pending court cases and to maintain legal processes until regular appointments are completed. The state government has also clarified that the selection process for regular legal officers is ongoing, and permanent appointments will be made once the selection is finalized.
Legal experts believe that these temporary appointments will facilitate the state government in handling its cases in court without any disruption to the judicial process. All appointed lawyers will assume their responsibilities immediately.
