Noida, April 29: The recent rainfall in the National Capital Region (NCR) has provided significant relief to residents suffering from extreme heat. Accompanied by strong winds and thunder, this rain has made the weather more pleasant and led to a drop in temperatures.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for today, predicting thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain at various times throughout the day. According to the department’s data, the maximum temperature recorded on April 29 is 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is 27 degrees Celsius. Conditions for “thunderstorms with rain” are expected to persist throughout the day.
Warnings have been issued for strong winds and lightning during the morning, afternoon, and evening. The same weather pattern is expected to continue on April 30, with a forecasted maximum temperature of 37 degrees and a minimum of 26 degrees. Although no specific warnings have been issued for this day, light rain and cloud movement may still occur. Following this, clearer weather is anticipated on May 1 and 2, with temperatures expected to reach 40/26 degrees and 41/25 degrees, respectively.
Currently, the sky is mostly clear, and no warnings have been issued. However, fluctuations in the Air Quality Index (AQI) are being observed due to the rain and strong winds. In various areas of Delhi, the AQI remains in the moderate to poor category. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 308, Ashok Vihar 303, and Alipur 248. Meanwhile, Chandni Chowk reported an AQI of 236, and the Cantt area recorded 241.
The situation in Noida and Greater Noida remains concerning. In Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-5, the AQI reached 328, while Knowledge Park-3 recorded 215. Ghaziabad’s air quality is even worse, with Loha’s AQI at 368 and Ved Vihar-Loha at 332, both falling into the very poor category.
In Indirapuram, the AQI was 253, Sanjay Nagar 231, and Vasundhara 244. However, Govindpuram reported a more favorable AQI of 115. The Meteorological Department indicates that similar weather conditions will persist for the next week, potentially leading to a decrease in temperatures and a slight improvement in air quality. Residents are advised to remain cautious during adverse weather and avoid open spaces.
