New Delhi, May 2: On April 29, ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ) launched a voter registration campaign targeting Sikhs residing in India for a Khalistan referendum. This announcement took place at the Karachi Press Club. The SFJ and its leader, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, have been declared banned by the Indian government.
Officials indicate that this move reflects Pakistan’s open support for the SFJ, an organization that has previously called for violent attacks in India and even the assassination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
One official stated that Pakistan is openly playing this game and is not attempting to hide its support for a terrorist organization.
The SFJ has openly demanded the assassination of Indian leaders. It has praised figures like Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and considers those responsible for the Air India Kanishka disaster as heroes.
By providing a platform for the SFJ at the Karachi Press Club, it is evident that the ISI aims to promote the Khalistan narrative beyond its borders, especially as it becomes increasingly difficult for the organization to operate in Canada and the United Kingdom.
This represents a desperate attempt to reignite the movement in India, as previous efforts have largely failed.
Earlier this week, Punjab police uncovered a deep conspiracy orchestrated by the ISI and Khalistani organizations. Police recovered RDX, RPGs, and grenades intended for large-scale attacks across the state.
Following several incidents in Punjab and neighboring states, the SFJ, viewed as the mouthpiece for Khalistani organizations, decided to initiate voter registration for the Khalistan referendum.
SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun stated that 1.8 million people worldwide have participated in the campaign. However, he added that it would be implemented in phases within India.
Registration will occur through Gurdwaras, starting in Delhi, followed by Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and finally Punjab.
He also mentioned that in any future tensions with India, he would fully support Pakistan. He praised Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir.
An Intelligence Bureau officer noted that the SFJ has previously manipulated data, inflating figures to suggest significant support for the movement. Their statistics are highly questionable, and the lack of substantial backing for the movement in Punjab serves as evidence.
Officials are confident that the SFJ’s attempts to initiate voter registration in India will fail. There is almost no support for this movement in Punjab and other parts of North India, and the SFJ will not succeed in its plans.
Another officer pointed out that it is interesting that Pakistan has allowed this organization to conduct narrative and propaganda warfare from the Karachi Press Club.
However, the officer also emphasized that agencies must remain on high alert to prevent such voter registration efforts.
He stated, “Even without significant support, sometimes a spark is enough to ignite a fire.”
Agencies are advised to monitor the narratives and false propaganda campaigns run by the SFJ. They will attempt to spread false narratives on social media and other chat groups.
The main focus will be on fake videos that aim to misrepresent the situation of Sikhs in India.
The SFJ is also planning to use artificial intelligence to create content that portrays Punjab in a negative light due to its association with India.
Intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the SFJ’s activities and will make every effort to prevent such fake campaigns from going viral.
