Tamil Nadu Prepares for Potential Hung Assembly, TVK Readies for Resort Politics

Chennai, May 3: In anticipation of a possible hung mandate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay has taken proactive measures to strengthen his party’s position. The Tamilga Vetrri Kazhagam (TVK) has begun preparations for potential “resort politics” ahead of the results on May 4.

Exit poll results are sending mixed signals—some favor the DMK-led alliance, while others indicate a lead for the AIADMK coalition, and some predict a strong debut for TVK. In light of this uncertainty, Vijay has implemented steps to protect his party’s winning candidates from any post-results fragmentation.

According to party sources, arrangements have been made to accommodate elected legislators at a private resort in Poonjeri, near Mahabalipuram. This resort can host over 100 individuals and is being prepared to shelter TVK’s victorious candidates as soon as the results are announced.

Insiders report that Vijay has instructed party officials to ensure that all preparations are complete, allowing for a well-managed response to any potential tight electoral contest.

Just a day after the release of exit polls last week, Vijay directed all winning candidates to report immediately to the party headquarters in Panaiyur. In a subsequent meeting, he humorously advised candidates not to “go anywhere” after their victory, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

Alongside logistical preparations, Vijay has also mobilized the party’s legal team to address any issues that may arise during the counting process. He has instructed the party’s General Secretary (Election Campaign Management) Aadhav Arjuna to request additional security at counting centers from the Election Commission of India to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has expressed confidence in returning to power as the largest party. Party leadership has urged its workers to remain vigilant and monitor the counting process closely.

The political landscape remains extremely delicate and uncertain. Following the election results, Tamil Nadu could witness significant political upheaval, where “resort politics” may once again emerge as a crucial strategy in the power struggle.
