New Delhi, May 3: On the occasion of International Press Freedom Day, Bihar’s Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary extended his best wishes to journalists. He emphasized the vital role of independent and impartial journalism in fortifying democracy.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Chaudhary stated, “Warm greetings to all journalist colleagues on International Press Freedom Day. The role of independent and impartial journalism is crucial for the strength of democracy. May your pen continue to be a voice of truth, transparency, and public interest, and may your commitment to the welfare of the people remain steadfast.”
Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi also congratulated journalists on this significant day. He remarked, “Independent, impartial, and responsible journalism is the cornerstone of democracy. Your fearless writing, commitment to truth, and vigilant perspective play a critical role in enlightening society and guiding it in the right direction.”
Former Deputy Chief Minister and Bihar BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha shared his wishes, stating, “Heartfelt greetings to all journalist colleagues, media institutions, and guardians of truth on International Press Freedom Day. Media is not just the fourth pillar of democracy; it is a mirror that confronts society with reality. The freedom, respect, and security of journalism are the true hallmarks of a healthy democracy. We take pride that the Indian Constitution grants this right in the form of freedom of expression.”
He further added, “Today reminds us to strengthen the values of independent, impartial, and fearless journalism. When the pen is fearless, the nation becomes empowered. When the voice is free, democracy thrives.”
On this occasion, former Bihar minister Mangal Pandey expressed his wishes, stating, “Journalism is the fourth pillar of democracy, maintaining transparency between the public and the government while voicing public sentiments. Dedicated independent journalism is the true strength of democracy. It not only awakens public consciousness but also provides the right direction for society.”
