Washington, May 3: President Donald Trump has adopted a tough stance on a new proposal sent by Iran, stating that he will review it soon but doubts its acceptability. Trump emphasized that Iran has not yet paid a significant price for its actions over the past 47 years.
In his statement, Trump remarked, “I will review the plan that Iran has sent us shortly, but I don’t think it will be acceptable, as they have not yet paid a substantial price for what they have done to humanity and the world.”
This comment comes at a time when Tehran has presented a new proposal aimed at easing ongoing tensions with the United States, reportedly sent through Pakistan. However, Trump has already expressed skepticism about this proposal, labeling it insufficient.
According to reports, Iran has proposed a multi-point plan that may include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing U.S. sanctions, and phased negotiations.
Despite this, the Trump administration remains firm. He indicated that if Iran takes “wrong steps,” military options could be reconsidered. He also clarified that any agreement would only be possible if the U.S. receives satisfactory security assurances, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump’s statement is part of a strategy to apply pressure in negotiations. While the U.S. keeps the door open for dialogue, it actively maintains military options.
Meanwhile, Iran has also signaled that it will only proceed on its terms and is unwilling to bend under pressure. As a result, distrust and strategic differences between the two nations remain unresolved.
