Language Dispute Erupts Between UP Deputy CM and Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, April 10: A heated exchange over language has emerged between Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav. The conflict ignited when Yadav made a sarcastic remark about the Awadhi language, prompting Pathak to respond by suggesting that Yadav has issues with Indian culture and local languages.

On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reacted to Yadav’s comments, stating, “Akhilesh Yadav is troubled. He has a problem with Indian culture, Awadhi, Bhojpuri, and other local languages. He has studied abroad; what does he care about Indian languages or the languages of Uttar Pradesh?”

The exchange escalated when Yadav shared a video on the social media platform X, showing Pathak answering journalists’ questions in Awadhi. Yadav quipped, “Whether it’s a language or dialect, it cannot hide like a thief.”

Earlier, Pathak had criticized the Samajwadi Party and Congress, claiming they do not want women to have representation in Parliament. He asserted that they consistently undermine women’s rights, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working for women’s empowerment. He mentioned that Modi is facilitating immediate amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act through a special session.

Additionally, on the same day, Deputy Chief Minister Pathak commented on the BJP’s manifesto in West Bengal, asserting that the party is set to win the elections decisively. He claimed that the Trinamool Congress’s shortcomings have been exposed, citing issues like lawlessness and deteriorating internal security in Bengal. Pathak expressed confidence that the BJP would form a government in West Bengal with a significant majority.
