
Ghaziabad, May 23: In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trade, police in Ghaziabad arrested a woman in the Nandgram area. The accused was found in possession of a large quantity of cannabis, smack, cash amounting to lakhs, and several mobile phones. This operation has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting police to investigate the entire network involved.
The arrested woman has been identified as Geeta, a resident of the new settlement in Nandgram. Authorities had received numerous complaints about drug activities in the area. Following this, the Nandgram police and surveillance team initiated monitoring and kept a close watch on suspicious activities.
During the investigation, police conducted a raid on Street Number 1 of the 30-foot road. The woman was apprehended at the scene. A search revealed approximately 900 grams of cannabis and 172 grams of smack. According to police, the smack was packed into 2,460 small packets, ready for distribution. The estimated international market value of the seized narcotics is around 2.6 million rupees.
Additionally, police recovered about 598,000 rupees in cash from the accused, stored in various denominations of notes and coins. Seven mobile phones were also seized, including both keypad and Android devices. Authorities believe these phones were used to communicate with customers and suppliers.
During interrogation, the woman admitted to selling cannabis and smack throughout the area, claiming this illegal trade was her source of livelihood. Police are now working to identify other individuals involved in this network, as well as to trace the origins of the drugs and their distribution areas.
Police officials stated that efforts are underway to locate other suspects involved in the drug trade. They are also examining call details from the seized mobile phones and other digital evidence to uncover the entire gang.
