Lucknow, May 23: Political tensions are escalating in Uttar Pradesh following controversial remarks made by Congress state president Ajay Rai about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state government and leaders from the NDA have responded sharply, suggesting that Congress is aware it will face a fate similar to that in Bihar and Bengal in the upcoming elections. In their frustration, they have resorted to insults.
Minister A.K. Sharma from the Uttar Pradesh government stated, “The comments made by Ajay Rai against the Prime Minister are entirely uncivil and inappropriate. No amount of condemnation is enough. There is no place for such derogatory and uncivil language in our society or politics. Especially for someone associated with Kashi, such remarks are completely contrary to Kashi’s culture.”
Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar also expressed strong disapproval of Rai’s statement. He remarked, “We condemn the statement made by the Uttar Pradesh Congress president. These individuals have lost their mental balance. After the elections in Bihar and Bengal, their mental state has deteriorated. With the Uttar Pradesh elections approaching, they are now agitated. They know they will not form a government in Uttar Pradesh, which is why they have resorted to insults.”
Additionally, BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur from Jammu and Kashmir targeted Congress, stating, “I had mentioned that the entire India alliance has fallen to such a low level that they are making personal attacks on the Prime Minister. Therefore, we say that Congress should not be taken seriously. Even if you look through a telescope or binoculars, Congress appears to be the smallest party now. This reflects their desperation. Sometimes it’s Rahul Gandhi, and at other times, someone else makes such comments.”
