ED Seizes ₹45.84 Crore in Land Acquisition Scam

New Delhi, May 27: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken significant action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002. A prosecution complaint has been filed against M/S Tarbiya Education Foundation, Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, Vinod Kumar, and Shree Om Chauhan in a special court in Saket, New Delhi. The accused were previously arrested during the investigation.

The ED initiated its probe based on an FIR registered by the Delhi Police under various sections of the IPC, 1860. This FIR pertains to fraudulent acquisition of land identified by Khasra number 792 in Madanpur Khadar village, New Delhi. The investigation revealed that forged and fabricated documents, including General Power of Attorney (GPA) and other ownership papers, were utilized in the scam.

The investigation uncovered that the GPAs used for transferring the land to M/S Tarbiya Education Foundation were dated January 7, 2024. It was also found that many original owners of the land had passed away decades earlier, as far back as 2004. Furthermore, the inquiry revealed that the accused, Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui and others, conspired to forge the signatures and thumbprints of the original owners to illegally occupy the land.

Additionally, it was discovered that these GPAs were fraudulently prepared in 2012-13, just before the property was transferred to M/S Tarbiya Education Foundation. Siddiqui, in collusion with the other accused, attempted to present this illegal occupation as a legitimate transaction through fabricated banking transactions.

The investigation also highlighted that Siddiqui engaged in substantial cash transactions for this illegal land acquisition. The value of the assets acquired through the crime is estimated to be around ₹47.76 crore.

The ED has seized the aforementioned land, valued at ₹45.84 crore, which was illegally occupied by Siddiqui and M/S Tarbiya Education Foundation. Further investigations by the ED are ongoing.
