New Delhi, May 27: A devastating fire broke out in a house located in the Khayala area of New Delhi on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a 13-year-old boy and injuries to a woman.
The deceased has been identified as Jaspreet, while the injured individual is 65-year-old Swamjeet Kaur.
According to the Delhi Fire Department, a call was received at 2:45 AM reporting a fire on the ground floor of a house in Vishnu Garden, Khayala.
Rescue operations commenced immediately after the incident was reported. Unfortunately, both Jaspreet and Swamjeet Kaur sustained injuries during the chaos.
Officials stated that both victims were admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar before the fire department arrived on the scene. However, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anantra declared Jaspreet dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, authorities reported that Swamjeet Kaur suffered burns covering 35% of her body and is currently receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have originated from an electric scooter on the ground floor, rapidly spreading throughout the area.
Earlier, a fire had also erupted in a three-story building in Vijay Vihar Phase 2, where rescue teams successfully evacuated all residents.
Fire department officials indicated that the fire in Vijay Vihar began in a parking area adjacent to the house before gradually spreading to the upper floors.
