Jharkhand Cabinet Approves 5% Hike in DA for Government Employees and Pensioners

Ranchi, May 27: The Jharkhand government has announced a 5% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners. This decision was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday.

As per the new provisions, the DA for employees and pensioners under the seventh central pay scale has been raised from 58% to 60%. For those under the sixth pay scale, the DA has increased from 257% to 262%, while employees under the fifth pay scale will see their DA rise from 474% to 483%.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel reported that the cabinet approved a total of 39 proposals related to the expansion of health services, organic farming, animal husbandry, skill development, administrative reforms, and welfare schemes. A new reward scheme was also approved to combat drug trafficking. Individuals providing information about drug smuggling, sales, or illegal production will be eligible for rewards ranging from ₹3,000 to over ₹2 lakh, depending on the accuracy of the information.

The government believes that increased public participation will strengthen actions against narcotics. To enhance health services and provide better treatment options, the Abua Dawakhana scheme has been approved. These centers will offer services in allopathic, Ayurvedic, homeopathic, Unani, and Siddha medical systems.

Additionally, the duration of the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and the National Health Mission has been extended until September 30, 2026. The government has relieved retail traders of petrol, diesel, and alcohol from the obligation to file quarterly returns and monthly abstracts, promoting ease of doing business.

The cabinet also decided to waive stamp duty and registration fees on land allocated to displaced persons and land donated for public use under the rehabilitation policy. This move is expected to expedite rehabilitation processes and provide economic relief to affected families.

In the skill development sector, the government approved the operation of the Prime Minister‘s Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITI scheme for the enhancement of ITI institutions.

Furthermore, the cabinet simplified the scheme to provide ₹4,000 monthly assistance to elderly, seriously ill, and disabled artists aged 60 and above, provided their monthly income is less than ₹8,000.

An agreement with the Indian Meteorological Department was approved to start regular flight services from Dumka Airport. The cabinet also sanctioned the transfer of 11.635 acres of land to South Eastern Railway for the construction of the Lodhma Fiska link rail line in Khunti district.

In health, the government approved an increase in the remuneration for junior resident doctors and interns working in medical colleges and hospitals. Additionally, ₹4 crore has been allocated for the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Livestock Development Scheme to promote goat farming among livestock farmers.
