
Lucknow, May 27: The Uttar Pradesh Police has launched a significant crackdown on anti-national conspiracies operating through digital platforms. On Wednesday, the UP Police shared a post on the social media platform ‘X’, announcing, “UP ATS and UP STF have achieved another crucial success in dismantling the sleeper cell of Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti.”
On Tuesday, following a joint investigation by the UP ATS and STF, four suspects linked to the sleeper cell of Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti were arrested in Saharanpur. The arrested individuals include residents Mahakab from Saharanpur, Gagandeep alias Guri Singh from Muzaffarnagar, Shahrukh from Saharanpur, and Musharraf from Haridwar.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were in contact with Pakistani handlers through social media and video calling. They were involved in reconnaissance of sensitive locations, recruiting youth, and plotting terrorist and destructive activities. Relevant charges have been registered at the ATS police station in Lucknow, and further legal action is underway.
The UP Police also shared a video from ADG Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, discussing how the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, under the direction of gangster Shahzad Bhatti, is attempting to mislead the youth of India through social media, enticing them with financial gains to carry out terrorist activities.
Additionally, the sleeper cell aimed to incite youth to execute terrorist and destructive activities in the country. In response, the UP ATS and UP STF conducted joint operations, scrutinizing suspicious individuals across the state. The goal of the Pakistani gangster was to recruit more youth to encourage terrorist activities.
