
Jaipur, May 27: Rajasthan is currently experiencing a severe heat wave, with Sri Ganganagar recording a staggering temperature of 48.2°C on Wednesday. This marks the hottest day of the season so far.
Several other cities, including Bikaner, Churu, Jaisalmer, Pilani, and Phalodi, also reported temperatures exceeding 46°C.
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, the intense heat is expected to persist across most parts of the state for the next two to three days. Maximum temperatures are likely to range between 44°C and 46°C in many areas, while parts of the Bikaner division, Kota division, and Shekhawati region may experience temperatures between 46°C and 47°C.
In the bordering districts of western Rajasthan, temperatures are expected to hover around 48°C on May 27 and 28.
On Wednesday, Sri Ganganagar recorded the highest temperature in Rajasthan at 48.2°C, followed by Pilani at 47°C. Bikaner saw a temperature of 46.6°C, while Jaisalmer and Churu recorded 46.4°C. Phalodi reached 46.2°C, Kota recorded 45.4°C, and Vansathali noted 45.2°C.
Meanwhile, Barmer and Udaipur experienced maximum temperatures of 45°C.
Despite the ongoing heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a possible change in weather due to the activation of a new western disturbance starting May 28.
This change could bring thunderstorms and rain to several parts of Rajasthan in the coming days. Light rain is expected in some areas of Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer divisions on May 28, while sporadic rain may occur in parts of the Bikaner division in western Rajasthan.
Rainfall may continue in certain districts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner divisions on May 29. Similarly, light rain is anticipated in scattered locations of Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions on May 30 and 31.
